[Viki Community Team] New Profile Page Experience Announcement

Hello everyone,

There’s been a slight delay in the launch of the new profile page experience. We hope to have the new page up before Wednesday, February 14th.

Thank you for your understanding!

It works when you click to see “see all”

Honestly, when I chose Moderators in the past, I first chose them, then messaged them and added them afterward. But since I had some applicants who I wasn’t able to add, I had to first (try to) add and then message them. You might think that one only applies if they have a free slot, but that’s not always the case.

It doesn’t work for me. It only works if I replace my username in this link.
But for some reason it shows me that I’m Viki Pass Plus, even though I’m in Europe. Maybe it really depends on the region.

Well, hello there, Ms Almost One Million Subs :star_struck: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

If you take a look at both labels, yes, you are Viki Pass Plus, but you are also QC Benefits Standard because you’re in Europe.

Can’t wait to hit a million. I’m very enthusiastic😊

I always believed that Viki Pass Plus is only available in certain countries within North, Central, and South America so I thought it was interesting.

right, we europeans have no plus pass. never had… when i go to the link I have it, when i go the old way to my profil it only says standard pass

Now I realized something!

In order to get to the new pages, you have to first be in the dashboard, then click on See all (projects).

Wow, it worked!
I clicked “see all” from the old page, not from the dashboard so it didn’t work for me.
Thanks!

I think… they now have two different filters (or maybe they already had them):

  • Viki Pass (Plus) - limitations based on the total amount of contributions - account-based
  • QC benefits - region-based limitations

So far we only saw “QC Benefits” on our profile. Likely Standard for Europe, Plus for Americas.

Your account will always have the same type of Viki Pass no matter where you are in the world. But the QC benefits will change if you moved from Europe to Brasil fe.

No because not everybody has the Viki Pass Plus.

On the old profile, for a while I had it say “Viki Pass (Plus)” and I was so confused, because I’m in Europe too. I’m not sure why it said that for a while, but it eventually changed to “QC Benefits (Standard)”. I think it had originally said “Viki Pass (Standard)”, but I could be misremembering as I never paid too close attention to it until I saw the “Plus” there, which confused me. Maybe at some point there was an update in the wording or the way it looked and it turned glitchy for a while?

I just want to say that I hated the changes. I really don’t understand why RViki waste time with this kind of thing when there are much more important things to correct and improve.

HMMM… :eyes:
Interesting. I liked the color black in the new profile page (at least mine). I saw some people asking if they could turn it to white or black anytime they want, I didn’t see a button to it. @vikicommunity ? Is there a way we volunteers can manually turn it?
I felt a very wide open vibes and a great organization of our profiles, you know? (Also there are some information which I personally think we could just avoid or exclude, idk. Like… the “my collection” session. We already have session to it, why put it again on “Overview”? I just think this occupies space… Anyway, I liked it in general! - The filter by role is a wayyyyy much better, it even specifies all the roles :star_struck:)

Do you guys think a graph that indicates the frequency level of contributions we have on the platform would be a bad ideia? Like… the Duo-lingo graph that shows our progress over a week.
I would think of it as a funny and cool thing! It would be a way to see the frequency of time and the number of contributions that a volunteer would make when online on the platform.

Again, it says there nicely: QC benefits (not Viki Pass).

In the old profile you can’t find a mention of a Viki Pass anywhere, not even in your account settings.

I think all QC accounts inherently have the same maximal access (Pass Plus), but the filter “QC benefits” then further limits them based on the region where one is located.

Wait, was this screenshot from your old or new profile? If it’s from the new one, the system might just be tripping.

This is how it is for me.

As someone who doesn’t have the time or energy (or language skills) to contribute with subtitling, I only get the new “viewer” profile page, which is at least not as cluttered as the old one.
I also see my watchlist, are visitors who are not me also able to see it? I would NOT like that. I don’t know why they put it there, it’s already very handily dispayed on the landing page.

I have to say, I’m not happy with the way reviews are handled now. I hate endless scrolling – what’s so bad about pagination?
Also, I can’t seem to delete my only one review that’s flagged as “inappropriate content” any more – it was already impossible to appeal that flag or even to learn what I did wrong to “earn” that, now I can’t even try to rewrite that review?
(I only had the one flagged so far, and I always thought I’d eventually come back, delete it and write a better one, but now this forced my hand. Luckily, I was able to access the old version, and I tried to delete it there, I hope it worked.)

@vikicommunity Your changes are awesome! Our profiles are more beautiful, styled more elegantly. They’re both pleasing to the eye and user friendly. Both recruiters and volunteers can find easily what they want and, summing up, I like everything about our new pages. Many congrats!
PS: Though dark mode on dashboard + all of of its sections would be appreciated you did a good job.
Thank you for your hard work :sparkling_heart:
