I watch a lot of cdramas and noticed that there are some cdramas where English translations are not accurate. I have already tried applying to several old dramas that are accessible to me (which I think are some sort of test for new subtitlers) but has never gotten a single reply from any team leaders yet.
I hope to apply for a Chinese to English subtitler position and hope that I can get a project soon.
I can speak and write both Chinese (汉语) and English languages. English is the mode of communications we have at home; I learned Chinese from my grandparents and from high school. I continue to add more of my Chinese vocabulary by watching more cdramas and reading Chinese stuff in preparation for HSK exams.

I hope you didn’t do that through Project Finder, right? You wrote to each Chinese moderator a personal message through their profile page, right?
When doing that, check the user’s latest contributions. If it’s old dramas, maybe those people are not active on Viki any longer.
Thanks for the information. I never tried checking their latest contributions, though I know the dramas through the Project Finder that are currently accessible to me are really old dramas already.

Hello! I used to be quite active as a Korean to English translator a number of years ago, and I am looking to get back into the scene and contribute to drama and variety show subtitles on the platform. I can also translate into Romanian if required, and I’ve done a bit of segmenting as well if that’s something you need help with at all too! My QC benefits have expired so it’d have to be projects that don’t require a pass for at least my first few contributions, but as soon as I can get on a project I’ll aim to get up to that point as soon as I can!
I’m based in Europe and can contribute for a few hours each week, typically in the evening and weekends but fairly flexible in terms of specific days/dates! Please feel free to reach out with any questions as well as have a look at my profile for some of the stuff I’ve worked on in the past:)

So you didn’t hear the news. No more Korean to English translation on Viki. They are all done by professionals.
If you speak good Korean, though, you can apply to do Korean captions, which is a pretty easy job, especially in those projects (many) where reference subs (the screenplay) are provided.
Another option is to become Translation Editor.

We have written all this many times, but here it is again:
- Go to the Help section, under Volunteering (or was it Contributing?), read the articles and watch the well-made instruction videos, see the Formatting Guidelines.
- Make 2-3 sample videos. It will help you familiarize yourself with the Subtitle Editor. Review your work extra-carefully and not leave any typos, spelling or grammar errors or sloppy literal translations. [I see you have already done this. Good!]
- Write at least a couple of sentences about yourself in your “About” page (in Italian and in English). Just the things that are relevant to work on Viki.
- Go to recently finished projects (within the past 6-8 months), find the “Team” tab, look for the Italian moderator, click on their name and send them a personal message asking if they have any project where they could use you.
- Remember to specify whether you have Viki pass or not. [I just checked, you don’t have it] Without a Viki pass, most new projects are not accessible to you, which is a problem, because especially in Italian, most old projects are already subtitled. You may want to purchase a Viki pass if you find a project, even if it’s just for 3-4 months. After you make 3000 subtitles, Viki gives you a free pass. If you are willing to do that, remember to inform the moderator you are writing to.
Important note:
Now, especially for Italian moderators, there is this thing, that many/most of them will require you to go through the NSSA academy before considering you for a project, and will immediately direct you to that route. Which means it may take months before you’re actually able to work. You will know which they are by looking at their profile page: they usually display their NSSA Italian Academy badge. Not all of them, though (and having a badge on the profile page is not a 100% indicator). There are quite a few Italian moderators who will take anyone who is good at translating (as proved by the sample videos) regardless of badges.
(I am one of those, but I don’t have any projects as Italian moderator right now or in the near future).

Hi all, I would like to ask what is the process of starting subtitling when there is inactive CM who can give you approval? I have moderator who has offered to support me, but we cant do anything until it is accepted by CM, who is inactive.
Also finding a project on project board doesnt seem to work. If I see the project available, and check the show, I find out that subtitles in my language are already done. (It seem quicker to check this way, than apply 
)
Just curious if anyone knows any tips, how to proceed in this situation

Why not look at a genre pick a show, see if it’s in your language and if the CM is active and go from there… Project finder isn’t really the place you find shows to work on.
If a person is a moderator in a show, he or she can choose subtitlers, it’s not the CM’s job.
