Hello dear people
I am new here and I would like to start translating from english to slovak. Are there some projects that need slovak subtittler? I have a lot of free time and I would like to be useful.
Thank you and have a nice day to everyone reading this!

Write a personal message to Slovak moderators of recently finished dramas (I’m saying ā€œrecently finishedā€ to ensure that they are still active on Viki) and ask whether they have any project that needs help. Send the message both in Slovak and in English, to show your proficiency in both.
Here are the names I know, who are active right now, but of course there must be many others. Just look at the ā€œTeamā€ tab of any recent drama and do a search (CTRL+F) for ā€œSlovakā€.

Hello! I am new here and i’d like to start translating to english, mandarin, spanish or portuguese. Are there any projects that need to be translated to any of those languages? I don’t really know yet how to start a project so if anyone could help me i would be really grateful. Thank you and have a nice day.

Dramas come already subbed into English and Portuguese, often also in Spanish.
The only work available in these languages is editing.
You can look for upcoming dramas and films from Korea and Japan to translate into Mandarin. You can also caption in Mandarin.
Go to the ā€œTeamā€ tab, search for the moderator in the language you want, and write him or her a private message.

ohh ok. Do you know how to become an editor?

I suppose first get acquainted with the system and workflow by working as a captioner or translator, and when people get to know you and trust your abilities, you might become a translation editor for Chinese - these are always in demand.
There’s an editor course being prepared by the NSSA, but it’s not ready to start yet. So, in the meanwhile, start getting your feet wet, so to speak, and learn to navigate in the Viki community.

Then you can

  1. Work on English-Turkish translation of any drama (Chinese or Korean), with the added bonus that you understand the original in case the English is unclear. Write to Turkish moderators offering pointing out that.

  2. Translate k-dramas into Chinese and c-dramas into Korean. If there is the corresponding moderator, write to him or her. If there is no moderator, for now you cannot be appointed as moderator if you don’t have a certain number of contributions.

  3. Write captions: Korean in k-dramas and Chinese in c-dramas. For this you don’t need a moderator, you can write directly to the Channel Manager.

  4. When you become a bit more experienced here and people know and appreciate your knowledge and work ethic, you may become translation editor in Chinese and Korean projects.
