Although you’re right to be pissed, and I agree that they should notify their users about impending changes, this particular part cannot be implemented. Think! Whose subscription should they consider? You have subscribed at a certain date, but others may have subscribed earlier or later. Should they wait for a year after the very last subscription?
Thank you irmar for your reply. If the only thing you think I am suggesting is ‘wait until subscription has expired to make changes’, then I do not have much to say to that. That line was not my point and it was merely a suggestion among others. Not to mention you sound offended that such a suggestion was even made (Do you work for VIKI by any chance?). I don’t think my post was offensive in any ways… though from the tone of your reply it seems to have ‘pissed you off’…
You would rather nitpick than come up with a better suggestion/ solution, so I going to advise you what you have advised me in your reply ‘Think!’ but also "Please read while paying proper attention’.

Ommmmmmmmmmm, this is surely a way to read between the lines what isn’t even there. I was wondering to read this reaction to your post too. If it was me, I would have guessed, that I just wasn’t awake yet, or too tired, then letters seem to dance before my eyes.

I have a problem with the way Viki ‘solved’ not having the option of being able to choose from any of the 200 languages there used to be before. Instead you’re now supposed to go in to a video and select from there. Just like you explained 
So I did that, I’m a Dutch subber and I selected Dutch and refreshed the page. So far so good. But as a subber I also watch shows that doesn’t have Dutch sub (yet). Sometimes to see if I want to sub it or not and sometimes just because I’m interested in the show. When I watch such a show with English subs it happens sometimes that my internet connection is slow and I have to refresh my page. You know what that means? I get English as my default language again, when I don’t want that.
Refreshing the videopage to get the language is not the right idea. I refresh because something went wrong with internet connection or whatever, not because I want to change my default language.
So please either give us the option of all languages back or give us the option to choose manually our default (non-english) langauge that will appear automatically in any show available in it. Even if the previous show didn’t have subs in that default language.

Come on, Rakuten Viki. Whatever happened to ‘over 200 languages’? Just over a week ago, you were still touting this figure. I often wondered, why would Viki continue to claim such a figure as a fact? If we browse through the completed drama projects, we can hardly find any drama that offers such a figure (or even close to it) of language translation. No matter. Whatever is offered is good enough. But, with only ten now, what a far cry! Please rethink the change in your policy, if that was the reason for the change. If it wasn’t, please clarify the discrepancy. Please, update us, your invaluable community of volunteers.
While you count on volunteers to make Viki a viable, let alone profitable, platform for ‘entertainment without barriers’, volunteers count on you to uphold your corporate vision and continue to make ‘entertainment without barriers’ the way it is meant to be.
We do appreciate Rakuten Viki, all that it stands for and all that it offers. Please keep on pushing the envelope of ‘entertainment without barriers’. Thank you.

Other languages Vikier here: In a previous post I said that if my language is not available and I need to refresh my page, the default language becomes English again. Well, also when I need to log in again on Viki this happens. I am a OL subber on this site, so this is very inconvenient. Hope to see all languages back soon.

Ok, we understand it’s impossible to have all languages, but 10?
I’m sure we all know what languages are commonly seen around. There are around 40 languages being subbed from those 200 languages.
**AT LEAST bring the option back for those 40 regular vikiers who were happy back then and they’re quite desperate and disappointed now

@camiille, is there any update on this issue? Any at all?
I can’t stress enough how important we feel this is.
If the programmers are aiming to simplify the site because of frequent technical difficulties, may I suggest they remove completely Volunteer Finder. I can’t think of a single time I personally had any use of it, and from what I read, I’m not the only one.

Volunteer Finder was one of the best things for the Arabic community on Viki. That was because we have a list of the top 20 contributors of a particular language each week. We could easily find new active volunteers to recruit. However, once the list disappeared, the volunteer finder became useless.

That list on it’s own was good enough for my language 
If they expanded it to top 50 it would’ve been good enough even for the languages with a big subtitling community.

Volunteers of different languages can answer this survey made by Viki (Qc newletters of March 2019) so Viki can know the recurrent languages used on their website:
