8/ I want to contribute on this show, but it’s a Viki Pass show. Do I have to buy it?
If your goal is just to be able to contribute on a show A, you can make 3000 contributions on another show B not under Viki Pass. Once you get the Viki Pass from these 3000 contributions, come back to ask to contribute on the show A without purchasing the Viki Pass.
If you will use your Viki Pass to watch hours and hours of dramas and will contribute only a little bit (< 3000 contributions in 6 months), then maybe consider buying it.

9/ I want to edit, but there’s already an editor or translation editor or general editor or chief editor?
Some teams have more than just 1 editor.
The edition is organized differently depending on whether it’s English editing or another language editing.
Editing in a language other than English:
Other than English editing, check the Contributor’s wall (the long picture in the “Subtitle team” tab of the show) or contact the Moderator of your respective language. No moderator? Contact the Channel Manager.
English editing:
- General Editor (check English grammar and fluency, not necessary to know Korean, Chinese or Japanese);
- Translation Editor (check the original meaning is conveyed in English, necessary to know Korean or Chinese or Japanese);
- Chief Editor (last check).
It’s possible to have > 1 General Editor or > 1 Translation Editor. So try your luck, check the Contributor’s wall to see if the recruitment is not closed (the long picture in the “Subtitle team” tab of the show) and contact the Channel Manager.

10/ I want to translate in Y, but there’s already a moderator in Y. Can I still translate?
One of the moderator’s tasks is to recruit subtitlers, so contact the moderator of your respective language to translate. Before contacting him, check first whether the show is already fully subtitled or not (see subtitling % in “Episodes” tab of the show) and whether they still recruit or not (see the contributors’ wall in the “Subtitle Team” tab of the show).

11/ When I submitted, it said translating ep 41 or ep Bonus/Behind the scenes. From which ep can I start subtitling?
You have previously contacted the moderator of your respective language on a show, or without moderator, you contacted the channel manager and you have been recruited as a subtitler. If you haven’t contacted them yet, contact them first to be able to subtitle a show.

You’ve been recruited, read the following paragraphs:
You can check the subtitling % of each episode in the “Episode” tab of each show. We normally subtitle chronologically starting from ep 1 to the final ep and not sporadically, to ensure that the audience can watch the full show and at the same time you subtitle.
Either you will see:

final episode is 96 % - 99 % subtitled and other episodes % are similar or 100 %. The team won’t recruit subtitlers at this point.

ep 1 is not subtitled or translation stops very early.
Most of the time, most episodes of one show are not subtitled yet in rare languages.
When you will be recruited as a subtitler, you will be recruited for the long run, that is to say not just for 1 ep, but for all episodes not subtitled yet.
So you can start subtitling from ep 1 or the earliest ep where the translation stopped.
