Can someone please help me out?. I want to contribute to Viki but I have never had such a hard time wanting to donate my time. I have applied to the segmenting academy but the wait list is huge. so, I wont be getting accepted any time soon. I know how to segment, I have done it before. It has been a few years so I may be a little slow at first till I get into the swing of things again. If no one will let me segment, then what can I do to help out until I can go through the academy? I’m to the point that I just want to give up. Forgive me for saying this but, Its sad that all these dramas need help and someone wants to help out and no one will except the help. Until I can get into the academy, Is there any practice videos someone can work on to practice segmenting. You can read about all day long, Its better for me to practice doing it, to get my speed back up. I’m not trying to offend anyone, I’m just extremely frustrated.
Hi. Yes, it sucks when you want to help but you can’t. I’m not a segger, but here are a few questions.
You say you have segged before. Was it here on Viki? I can’t find your user profile on Viki.com under nikienana11 to check.
If you have segged on Viki, you must have worked with some CMs and moderators on various projects who can vouch for you that you do your job well even without a segging academy passed (for now). You could contact them and ask around for new projects.
If you haven’t segged at Viki, that’s a different story. Then people should really pass one of the two academies.
Another option is captioning, and not just in English for English-speaking shows. Some Korean dramas come form the broadcasting company with a transcript. Somebody has to punch that transcript into Korean language on Viki. Depending on your Korean language skills, this is something that’s also an option.
Perhaps some of these fine folks can tell you something I don’t know, or correct me if I’m wrong:
I segmented for Viki about 5 years ago and I have about 1200 segments. I have also timed subtitles for past teams not here on Viki. I don’t know why it has me as nikienan11 in the discussions but I’m nikienana1 on the site. You can see the segments I have under that name. Its been so long ago that I segmented that I don’t even know if the CMs are even still around. I guess I do some research and see if I can get in touch with them.
I have tried to message some channel managers for the English speaking shows and have not received any response. I don’t know, its just frustrating.

Ich frage, weil es ein Drama gibt, das keine Freigabe für die amerikanischen Staaten hat und deshalb keine englischen UT, wenn es dir möglich wäre es vom Koreanischen ins Deutsche zu übersetzten wäre das schon toll. Dazu bräuchte es jedoch Zeit, Geduld, ein ausgesprochen hohes Level an koreanischen Kenntnissen, denn es ist ein historisches Drama, nicht das große Epos keine Angst, aber schon anspruchsvoll bei manchen Redewendungen, Ausdrücken. LOL Wahrscheinlich war ich zu übereifrig und du meinst, du hast auf anderen Seiten Koreanische Inhalte mit deutschen oder englischen UT versehen, immer auf Grundlage einer dieser beiden Sprachen.

Ich spreche Koreanisch (habe in Korea gelebt) und habe durchaus schon mehrmals als Übersetzerin von Koreanisch zu Englisch/ Deutsch gedient, aber selbstständig ganze Episoden zu übersetzen wäre vermutlich zu viel. Sachen wie Show Champion, MNET Awards Veranstaltungen etc sind okay aber gerade bei historischen Dramen hätte ich vermutlich zu große Lücken im Vokabular.
Aber vielen vielen Dank das du geschrieben hast. Ich frage mal bei meinen Freunden nach ob jemand dabei ist der sich für das Drama finden würde.

Bei Varietésendungen hättest du wahrscheinlich Spaß, da bin ich aber überfragt, welche eventuell noch da sind. Einige haben eine Regionalsperre für Deutschland … Das leidige Spiel. Ich sehe gerade, du hast einen VPP, das heißt du müsstest auf einem der amerikanischen Kontinente wohnen. Da kommt das Problem hinzu, dass sich nicht alle Lizenzen der Kanäle decken. Denk z.Bsp. an Goblin, in Amerika nicht zu sehen in Europa schon. Ich helfe im Moment bei einem älteren Drama aus, d.h. momentan bin ich alleine … Die anderen Subber sind abgesprungen, das gibt es auch öfter. Na ja, wenn du einen Kanal suchst ohne Druck und Hetze empfehle ich dir Giant, würde mich freuen und die deutsche Moderatorin sicher auch. Bei Fragen, darfst du mich gerne anschreiben, kein Thema.

Ja, wenn ich direkt von Koreanisch übersetzen will wäre Varieté das Beste. Aber im Moment bin ich absolut zufrieden damit von Englisch ins Deutsche zu übersetzen. Es ist halt einfacher für mich koreanische Shows/ Dramen zu übersetzen weil ich da das Gefühl habe die Übersetzungen/ Stimmung besser wiedergeben zu können.
Ich habe ehrlich gesagt keine Ahnung was es mit den ganzen Regionalsperren auf sich hat, weil ich nicht auf den amerikanischen Kontinenten lebe und es trotzdem geht.
Ich kenne Giant selber noch gar nicht, bin aber gerne bereit mitzuhelfen. Ohne Druck und Hetze klingt sehr gut. ^^ Für einen alleine ist das ja doch jede Menge Arbeit… Kannst mich gerne hinzufügen.

Dein Gerät, das du benutzt ist für den amerikanischen Markt bestimmt und du hast dich über eine amerikanische IP-Adresse angemeldet. Zwei Punkte, bei denen ich sagen würde, okay funktioniert. Habe dir eine “Message” geschickt, möchte das Thema hier nicht weiter vertiefen.
Wenn du momentan schreibst, ist es auch wahrscheinlich, dass du in absehbarer Zukunft wieder nach Amerika gehst? Dann sollte es vielleicht, eh kein Problem geben.
P.S. Kann dich bei Giant leider nicht hinzufügen, habe aber gerade unsere de Mod angeschreiben. Manchmal antwortet sie schnell, manchmal langsam, wie gesagt ein entspannter Kanal.
