Viki

Want to subtitle? Let people know!

I actually like the idea of direct translation from the source language, if possible, because it is easy for the original meaning to get lost with each translation, but as @mirjam_465 said, it works better for solo subbers.

#3961

I agree. Too bad only a handful of Other Language subbers know one of Viki’s source languages (well enough), so translating from English became the norm. And in a way that’s kinda sad, but on the other hand the alternative would probably be that the shows were only being translated into a few languages.

#3962

As long as the OL subber adheres to all the rules set forth in the Team Notes, wouldn’t it be a plus to have a subber who can translate directly from the source language?

#3963

Most definitely.

#3965

Thank you, @angelight313_168

#3970

Hello! I want to contribute as Chinese-English subber. I have bilingual native fluency in both languages. I can be an editor as well for the subtitles to check for grammatical issues and to check if the subtitles are smooth.

#3971

Hi! Do you still need Chinese subtitle on the drama? I have native fluency in both English and Chinese. I would love to help out.

#3972

I filled out a registration request a few weeks ago but haven’t received a response.
I deduce that there are enough volunteers

#3973

For subtitling try sending a few requests to series that haven’t got their team full yet. I managed to srtart collaborating in a project doing english-italian.
but same here, no response whatsoever from the nssa! (for both subt and segmenting)

#3974

There is a very long waiting list of about 3 to 6 months for the segmenting academy.
