Hello, Iā€™m looking for someone to translate to Korean a Chinese drama (already translated in English). If you are interested, please send me a message:https://www.viki.com/users/chiarodiluna/overview Thank you!

Hello, Iā€™m new here and Iā€™d really like to start helping with a drama. Iā€™ve been studying Korean for 2 years and am currently preparing to take the TOPIK test. I have basic Korean knowledge. I was a proofreader for a manga team at one point and am very good with English Grammar. I would love to start gaining experience but Iā€™m not finding clear cut guidelines for getting started, I would appreciate anyone who would reach out to me.

Thank you!

Dear Bonnie, I see you have Viki pass, so you could easily go to the Coming Soon channels and then offer your services as editor in the English team. Since you have no experience here, for starters, do aim for web dramas and such, so that it will be easier for you to get chosen. When you have more contributions, you can expand.
I can give you my own document of English guidelines for Viki. Itā€™s not anything official, and on some formatting points different Chief Editors prefer different things (so you should ask their preferences), but most of these are what we usually follow.

Hi, Iā€™m looking for a first project to subtitle from English to Hungarian. Iā€™m bilingual and speak/write both Hungarian and English.

Look for ways to find a project by scrolling up this topic, we have written various tips on how to write to a Hungarian moderator.

Okay, thank you

Thank you so much for the information. I will definitely check out the coming channels and start from there.

Since itā€™s gone too far up to be able to find easily, here is some information about finding a project:

The safest way to go about it is to actively search for moderators in your desired language and send them a p.m. (personal message) asking if they can use you in any of their teams.
How to find the names of moderators? Thatā€™s the easy part. You go on the main page of dramas and look at that loooong vertical picture with all info about the drama and the characters. If you scroll down, towards the end there is a table with all the names of language moderators.
If the page is done well, the name is also a link that you can click, and it will take you to the moderatorā€™s profile page. Under her name and avatar picture you will see a little envelope. This is where you click to send a message.

If the name is not a link, just select it and copy it on the Clipboard. Then go to your profile page, look at the URL, and substitute your username with the moderatorā€™s username.
Example: Suppose your username is eleonora and the moderatorā€™s username is maria.
Your URL is like this: https://www.viki.com/users/eleonora
You make it like this: https://www.viki.com/users/maria

Another way is to click on the name of the team, and youā€™ll get a page with all the moderators. Their names are definitely live links there.

In the new layout there will be a separate tab with the team, but I havenā€™t seen it yet. Iā€™m just telling you in case youā€™ve got it already.

Be sure to include info about you, such as your knowledge and experience, how much free time you have and when, and whether you have Vikipass or not (it is important for new, on-air dramas, because they are most of the time behind Vikipass).
Of course you should write in your language, so that she can also assess how well you write in your language. Be sure to spellcheck before hitting ā€œSendā€!

Hi,
I really wanna help, I can subtitle from english to portuguese!

PLEASE HELP! Iā€™m new to the Viki Community. I am looking for projects to be a subber translating Korean to English, but I was wondering if it was possible to find opportunities without the Viki Pass.

Hi! Iā€™m new on Viki, but am interested in being a general editor for English subs on Japanese dramas/movies. I do not speak or read Japanese (yet), but I am an English major whose job in real life is writing so if someone can give me the basic format of the sentence, I can make it pretty for English subtitles.

If I can give you some advice ā€¦ be open to any show in the beginning. We always need English editors, but most of the old shows already have (edited) English subs and we donā€™t get that many new Japanese shows at once.
I see that you do have a Viki Pass Plus, so you can work on new shows (for other starting volunteers this is often a problem since they donā€™t immediately have access to the new shows).

You can find the upcoming shows here:
https://www.viki.com/explore?program=coming-soon

Right now thereā€™s only 1 Japanese show in the list and it already has a general editor. Donā€™t worry about this, just start in any show you can get to build experience and trust and there will be Japanese shows for you in the future.
For now just look for upcoming dramas that donā€™t have a general editor yet or for old shows of which you think the English subs need improvement (but be careful not to step on any toes) and ask the Channel Manager or the English Chief Editor if they could use your help.
The Channel Manager and the rest of the team are mentioned on the show pages. For the new version of Viki: click on ā€œsubtitle teamā€, for the old version just scroll down.
You can also generally ask one of the English editors whether they might have a project for you or know someone who does.
Double-check your message before you send it. As an editor you probably wonā€™t get away with a typo in your request.
